Our Club was formed by a group of people who just wanted the fun of building and sailing their radio controlled model boats.
Bicclescombe Park Lake offers 99% of the model boaters wants, regretably the lake is not deep enough to sail Marbleheads, but will take a one-metre.
There is a great variety of models to be seen on a Sunday morning including kit built and scratchbuilt craft of all sizes.
By reason of environmental pollution we are not allowed to sail boats with internal combustion engines.
We do now accept fast electric boats, but only when all other boats are off the water.
Club members are required to take out Public Liability insurance, this is because we utilise a public lake owned by the local council, we do have an insurance scheme for members.
We meet at about 10.00 am on Sunday/Wednesday mornings for approx 2 hours.
Our main website is at http://ilfmodelboatclub.webs.com/
Another model boating website you might like to visit is owned by one of our neighbouring clubs:- Kenwith Model Boat Club. http://beehive.thisisnorthdevon.co.uk/default.asp?WCI=SiteHome&ID=8582
