Welcome to the Home Page of the Torridge Third Age Group which operates in and around the locality of Bideford to provide social, educational, and cultural activities for the semi or fully retired.
Though autonomous for practical purposes, the Group is part of a national organisation - the University of the Third Age (U3A).
We currently have just under 400 members and the principal event is a lunch, with speaker, at the Royal Hotel, Bideford on the third Wednesday of each month at which a monthly Newsletter is distributed. Attendance is normally 80-100 and for those unable to attend, newsletters are sent by post.
In addition, special interest Groups which are largely self-financing, meet weekly, twice a month or monthly, often in a member’s house.
Brief details are given for each group and intended to inform possible new members rather than existing members, who have the newsletter.
Whilst all are welcome, we are especially interested in enquiries from prospective members who would be prepared to run a group, because a proportion of our groups are already over-subscribed.
